Solarvane was started in 2014 by Kentaro Kawamori and Eric Su in Phoenix, AZ. Both have a deep background in technology and online media and in 2015 were honored to be selected as part of the Arizona State University Edson Student Entrepreneur Initiative while Kentaro was completing his MBA.

The Beta site was launched the same year and the in the summer of 2016 the first full version of the site went live.
